Special Message
Mid-America Christian University (MACU), now located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was founded in 1953 and is in its twelfth year of offering a degree completion program (TELOS) for ministers and lay leaders. (TELOS is a Greek word meaning the end result or ultimate goal toward which one strives.)
The TELOS program allows students to achieve their goals through several expanded educational methods, such as Internet courses; contract learning (directed learning overseen by an individual professor); highly focused on-campus events; CLEP, DANTES, and other standardized proficiency tests; transfer of college credits from other institutions; and credit through prior learning experiences.
The TELOS degree, a Bachelor of Science in Professional Ministries, is a 124-hour degree. The TELOS program is a 57-hour program that focuses upon biblical/theological and pastoral leadership skills. In order to enter, the program requires that the students have approximately 2 years prior college and are at least 22 years of age. Students needing additional hours to complete the degree need to speak to their TELOS adviser about ways of achieving those hours (credit for prior learning, correspondence courses, contract learning courses, CLEP, DANTES, etc.).
MACU recognizes that not all persons desiring higher learning, and who are answering God's call to ministry, have prior college hours. All courses are available for those not seeking a degree at the same time of enrollment. Courses may, at a later date, be applied towards the TELOS degree.
The cost (excluding books and fees) is $600 per 3-hour course. For more information, applicants may contact MACU by phone at 877-569-3198 (toll-free) or e-mail at [email protected]. Prospective students should visit the MACU Web site at http://www.macu.edu for full cost structure and degree requirements. MACU is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, Illinois 60602-2504.
Non-credit— bible/biblical studies; pastoral counseling and specialized ministries; religion/religious studies; theological and ministerial studies.
