California Community Service Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To encourage future physicians to establish community-based primary care practices in California. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicant must be a third or fourth year student; enrolled at MD degree granting schools in California; an African-American, mainland Puerto Rican, Mexican-American, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native, or American Indian; a U.S. citizen; and must demonstrate commitment to practice in California. Criteria: Selection is based on demonstrated commitment to practice in California, interest in community-based primary care, satisfactory academic performance, leadership, and financial need.

Gerber Fellowships in Pediatric Nutrition (Undergraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide support for a minority medical student or resident doing ongoing research in the area of pediatric nutrition. Focus: Medicine, Pediatric. Qualif.: Applicant must be a second or third year student; an African-American, mainland Puerto Rican, Mexican-American, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native, or American Indian; a U.S. citizen attending a M.D. degree-granting institutions accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the Association of American Medical Colleges, or in D.O. degree-granting colleges of osteopathic medicine accredited by the Bureau of Professional Education of the American Osteopathic Association; and pursuing careers in pediatric nutrition research. Criteria: The Program Advisory Committee will review each application.
Funds Avail.: $3000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a competed application form together with a letter of recommendation from medical school dean or director; a letter of commitment; an official academic transcript; a curriculum vitae; a personal statement on career goals; and a description of the research project. Deadline: October.

W.K. Kellogg Foundation Doctoral Fellowships in Health Policy (Professional Development/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide opportunity to complete advanced training in research methodology, including quantitative and qualitative methods. Focus: Public health. Qualif.: Applicant must be enrolled in, or accepted for enrollment at the RAND Graduate School, The University of Michigan School of Public Health, Brandeis University, The Heller Graduate School, UCLA School of Public Health, The Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, The Harvard School of Public Health, The Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health or The University of Pennsylvania; an African-American, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American; a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; demonstrates commitment to work with underserved populations upon completion of the doctorate; and exhibit willingness to complete relevant dissertation research. Criteria: The National Advisory Committee will select based on academic accomplishments, research potentials, demonstrated interest and ability in health policy research, and commitment to working with underserved populations.
Funds Avail.: Covers tuition, fees and a partial living stipend. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a competed application form together with the required materials. Deadline: June.
National Medical Fellowships Need-Based Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support medical students in educational pursuits. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must be first or second year medical student; an African-American, Mexican-American, Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or mainland Puerto Ricans who permanently reside within the 50 U.S. states; and accepted to AAMC or AOA-accredited U.S. medical schools for study leading to M.D. or D.O. degrees. Applicants born outside of the U.S. must submit a proof of citizenship. Criteria: Selection is based on financial need.
Funds Avail.: $500-$10,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application together with the required documents. Deadline: June 30.
