Al Schuman Ecolab Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support post-secondary students with strong entrepreneurial commitment who are dedicated to furthering their education and enhancing their careers in the restaurant and food service industry. Focus: Food service careers. Qualif.: Applicant must be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States of America or be a resident of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands; must be pursuing a degree in the restaurant and food service industry; must be accepted or enrolled in the following schools: California State Polytechnic University -Pomona, Cornell University, Culinary Institute of America, Johnson and Wales University, Kendall College, Lynn University, Michigan State University, New York University, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, University of Denver, University of Houston, University of Nevada (Las Vegas) or University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a GED average standard score of 470 or higher. Applicant must also be enrolled for two consecutive semesters and not entering his/her last term before graduating. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the judges’ review of application focusing on presentation, entrepreneurial project, academic merit and letters of recommendation.

Funds Avail.: Bronze - $3,500; Silver $5,500; Gold -$7,500. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicants must submit an application packet which includes completed online application, an entrepreneurial project as described in the application, a copy of college curriculum with the number of credit hours detailed, transcript from current school or a copy of the GED certificate and three letters of recommendation from current or previous employer(s) in the restaurant and/or food service industries, current teachers/professors or personal references. Deadline: March 7.
