HOSA Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote career opportunities in health care; to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. Focus: Health care services. Qualif.: Applicant must be

either a senior secondary or postsecondary student who plans to continue his/her education in the health care field; Criteria: Scholarship committee will evaluate the application based on the enrolled education; documents such as proof of acceptance into a program of health occupation/health science education for the following academic year, leadership activities and recognition, community involvement, references, and personal statement.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit and mail in one envelope the typed, word-processed or legible handwriting application; he/she must submit letters of reference, and official transcript of record; all applications must be submitted directly to the National HOSA Headquarters; there is no limit to the number of applications per school or per state association. Deadline: April 20.

Leaders at Work Scholarship in Textiles and Apparel (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help students set goals, makes plans, become leaders at work, and prepare for career success. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be high school seniors; must have been active members of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America for a minimum of one year; must have paid national and state dues no later than March 1, 2008. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the grades, demonstrated leadership ability, ability to communicate well, and active participation and membership in an FCCLA Chapter.

Funds Avail.: $500. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the on-line application form; must complete the requirements for Outstanding Leader Recognition found on the Career Connection and Leaders at Work CD; must attach recent official high school transcript; a letter of recommendation from the food production and services, or Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation instructor; and must submit a two-minute videotape (VHS or DVD format) which address the question “How will the leadership skills you have developed through FCCLA help you reach the Family and Consumer Sciences career goal?” and a copy of the chapter affiliation form verifying national dues payment by March 1.

Beth Middleton Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To expand leadership potential and develop skills for lifeplanning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communications. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member for a minimum of two years (not necessarily consecutive); a current or former FCCLA state or national officer; he/she must be senior and have a 3.5 GPA activities and have made a significant contribution to a state or national project exemplary of the goals and ideals of FCCLA. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on academic records and contributions made as an officer.

Funds Avail.: $400 for tuition, room and/or board. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the on-line application form using a 10pt. Times New Roman font; must attach the most recent official high school transcript of record including the first semester of the senior year including standardized college entrance exam scores(ACT and/or SAT); must provide a copy of the chapter affiliation verifying national dues paid by December 1, 2007; applicants must include recommendations from their local adviser, state adviser, and one other person knowledgeable of student's non-FCCLA activities; Deadline: December 1.

National Technical Honor Society Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote educational excellence; to enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member who has held the office of the President of the State FCCLA Association; must be a senior and must have taken the ACT or SAT examination; must have applied to a degree granting institution leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree in any field of study. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and significant volunteer experience; also, judges will base the evaluation to the style and expression as well as content.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the online application form using the 10pt. Times new Roman font; most recent official high school transcript including the first semester grades of the senior year and standardized college entrance exam scores(ACT and/or SAT); a copy of the chapter affiliation verifying national dues paid by January 1, 2008; applicants must include a letter of recommendation from their local adviser, state adviser, and one other person knowledgeable of student's non-FCCLA activities; all signatures must be included. Deadline: March 1.

Wiley Publishing Inc. Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help students set goals, makes plans, become leaders at work, and prepare for career success. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be students who have outstanding leadership qualities gain through FCCLA membership and other experiences in family, school, and community; applicants must be seniors who have affiliated with national FCCLA by March 1; must have taken the ACT or SAT examination; must have applied to a degree-granting institution leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree in any field of study. Criteria: Scholarship Committee will evaluate the application based on the style and expression as well as content.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the online application form; he/she must completed the requirements for Outstanding Leader Recognition found on the Career Connection and Leaders at Work CD; an applicant must submit the completed Outstanding Leader application form; he/she must attach recent official high school transcript; a letter of recommendation from the food production and services, or hospitality, tourism, and recreation instructor; and must submit a two-minute videotape(VHS or DVD format) which addresses the question “How will the leadership skills you have developed through FCCLA help you reach the family and consumer sciences career goal?”; and a copy of the chapter affiliation form verifying national dues payment by May 1.
