Portuguese American Police Association Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide support for deserving students intending to pursue a career in either Health Care, Social Service, Law Enforcement, or other related fields. Focus: Health care services, Social work, Law enforcement. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Portuguese descent; must be a resident of Massachusetts; must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university or a graduating senior applying to full-time status in an accredited or another college or university; must be majoring in either health care, social services, law enforcement or another related field; must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on their academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $500. Number Awarded: 6. To Apply: Application forms are available online. Applicant must submit an essay of no more than three paragraphs stating the reason stating their career goals; must have a high school transcript that includes the class rank; must have the current college/university transcript; must have a letter of reference from each of the following: (1) Guidance counselor or advisor and (2) Personal reference, preferably from someone with whom the applicants have work.
