George Choy Memorial/Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships for gay, bisexual and transgender students and allies who have made significant contributions to society by “living out loud” and supporting the LGBT community. Criteria: Selection of scholars will be based on academic credentials, an essay, leadership and community service involvement, an interview, two letters of recommendation, financial need and future goals.

Markowski-Leach Scholarships Fund (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for gay and lesbian undergraduate and graduate students who help enhance the greater society's perception of gay and lesbian people. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at San Francisco State University, the University of California at Berkeley or Stanford University, with a GPAof 2.5 or better. Davis Putter Scholarships Fund (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships for individuals who are able to do academic work at the university level and who are part of the progressive movement on the campus and in the community. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be students actively working for peace and justice; must be enrolled in an accredited school and receiving college credit for the time period covered by their grants; and must be living in the United States and planning to enroll in school in the U.S. in order to apply. Criteria: Selection will be based on academic merit and financial need.

Funds Avail.: Maximum of $8,000 and may be considerably smaller depending on the applicant's circumstances and the amount of funding available. Roy Scrivner Research Grants (Graduate, Postdoctorate/Grant)

Purpose: To provide grants for graduate and postdoctoral research concerning the study of lesbian, gay and bisexual family psychology and family therapy. Focus: Family Therapy. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduate and postdoctoral students. Criteria: Selection will be based on merit.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for gay and lesbian high school seniors from Iowa planning to attend an Iowa Board of Regions university (Iowa State, University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa). Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be gay and lesbian high school seniors planning to be admitted in an Iowa Board of Regions University. Criteria: Awards will be based on academic achievement, community involvement or service and financial need.

Wiggsy Sivertsen Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for gay and lesbian students or students who have provided service to or worked on behalf of gay and lesbian issues. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled at San Jose State University and demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Priority will be given to those students who demonstrate financial need.

Team DC Student-Athlete Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) student-athletes who have enhanced the perception of the LGBT community through contributions and involvement in one or more sports. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be high school seniors in the Washington DC metropolitan area who will be attending an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States with demonstrated academic and athletic excellence as well as potential to serve as a positive LGBT role model. Criteria: Preference will be based on qualifications.

Joseph Towner Fund for Gay and Lesbian Families (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for children of gay and lesbian families. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a postsecondary student with at least one gay or lesbian parent residing in the Bay Area (counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma and Solano); must be 25 years old or younger and have a GPA of 2.5 or better.
