M. Hildred Blewett Scholarships (Postdoctorate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To enable early-career women to return to physics research career after having had to interrupt their careers for family reasons. Focus: Physics. Qualif.: Applicants must be currently legal residents or resident aliens of the United States or Canada; must be currently in Canada or the United States; must have an affiliation with a research-active educational institution or national laboratory; and must have completed work toward a PhD. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on a committee's review of the application materials.

CEMF Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Scholarships (Postdoctorate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To encourage Canadian women to pursue careers in the field of engineering. Focus: Engineering. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian women who are pursuing studies in engineering at the PhD level. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on the committee's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: $15,000. To Apply: Applicants are advised to visit the website for the online application system. Deadline: January.
CN Scholarships for Women (Postgraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To encourage women to pursue non-traditional careers in areas such as trade, technology and operations and to promote employment equity in Canada. Focus: Technology. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian students in the field of trade, technology and operation; and must demonstrate their desire for a career in trades, technology or operation by providing a brief description of their career interest. Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their demonstrated interests in a non-traditional career. Scholarships are awarded regardless of whatever other financial assistance applicants may have obtained and may be used by the recipients to ease financial constraints while studying.
Funds Avail.: $600. To Apply: Applicants must submit letter of recommendation and other supporting documents to the educational institution that will in turn remit the money to the recipient. Deadline: October 12.
NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarships (Graduate, Postdoctorate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial support for the most outstanding eligible scholars pursuing master's or doctoral studies in a Canadian university; to assist recent recipients of doctoral degrees in adding to their research experience; and to stimulate the interest of undergraduate students in research. Focus: Natural sciences, Engineering. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada; must hold (or expect to hold) a degree in science or engineering from a university whose standing is acceptable to NSERC; and must have obtained a first-class average in each of the last two years of study. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated and selected according to the criteria in the categories: academic excellence, research ability or potential, communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Purpose: To provide financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in master's or doctoral programs in the natural sciences or engineering; to assist recent recipients of doctoral degrees in adding to their research experience; and to stimulate the interest of undergraduate students in research. Focus: Natural sciences, Engineering. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada; must hold (or expect to hold) a degree in science or engineering from a university whose standing is acceptable to NSERC; and must have obtained a first-class average in each of the last two years of study.
