Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowship Program (Postdoctorate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants need not be U.S. citizens; must be candidates for the doctoral degree at a graduate school within the United States. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing and submitted requirements.

Funds Avail.: $25,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form and submit along with a list of publications/presentations; a dissertation abstract; a personal statement; a narrative discussion of the dissertation; a work plan; two letters of recommendation; and graduate transcript of records. Spencer Foundation Research Grants (All/Grant)

Purpose: To provide funding for research projects that study education in the United States and abroad. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be principal investigators who are affiliated with a school district, a college or university, a research facility, or a cultural institution. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the provided proposal.

Funds Avail.: $40,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a proposal cover sheet; proposal narrative including the description of the project, a brief summary of the relevant literature, a concise summary of the conceptual framework, research methods, an explanation how the proposed work fits within one or more of the Spencer focus areas or unique contribution of the work, and a clear identification of the principal investigators and role of any supporting researchers; proposed budget; and curriculum vitae.
