Bill Cormack Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide professional growth opportunities; to encourage interaction among music education professionals; to foster public support for music in school; to offer quality musical experiences for students; to cultivate universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music; to develop and maintain productive working relationships with other professional organizations. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be entering freshmen in a Texas college or university; must major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher-certification with music as the primary teaching field. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance.
Funds Avail.: $2,500. To Apply: Applicant must submit: completed application form; a high school transcript; a one-to-two page essay that describes his/her reasons for becoming a teacher, commitment to music education and future career goals; three-to-five evaluations from individuals who can assess the applicant's potential for success in an undergraduate music education program and as a music educator, music skills and abilities, work ethic and other personal qualities; must submit a verification from student's advisor that the applicant will teach within the semester indicated on the application.
