National Security Education Program Fellowships (Undergraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide support for outstanding U.S. graduate students intending to pursue a career in language study. Focus: Foreign languages. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S graduate student who wants to pursue their area of specialization in language study; must be a U.S. citizen. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on their application requirements.

Starr Foundation Graduate Fellowship in Asian Studies (Graduate/Grant)
Purpose: To support continuing graduate students for such activities as field study, summer language study, or research/conference travel. Focus: Foreign languages, General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduate student who does not hold FLAS awards. Criteria: Selection will be based on the application requirements.
Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: For further information and application materials, applicants are advised to contact the SPAS Office of student Academic Services, 315 Moore Hall. Deadline: November 15.
University of Hawaii at Manoa East-West Center Graduate Fellowships (Graduate, Postdoctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide support for qualified individuals intending to participate in the educational and research programs at the EWC. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a citizen and legal resident of an Asian or Pacific country, or the United States; must be interested in participating in the educational and research programs at EWC while pursuing a master's or doctoral degree at the University of Hawaii. Criteria: Preference is given to those in a master's degree program.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Application must be made to the Center's in-country program representative. For further information, applicants may write to the EastWest Center, Office of Award Service, Rm. 2066, 1601 East-West Rd., Honolulu, HI 96848. Deadline: November 1.
University of Hawaii at Manoa Graduate Assistantship Awards (Graduate/Award/Prize)
Purpose: To assist graduate students with their education. Focus: Teaching. Qualif.: Applicant must have a strong background in Asian Studies; must have a high scholastic record; must be admitted as a graduate student; must have a high level of English proficiency; must carry at least 6 units of credit each semester and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Criteria: Selection will be based on the academic standing of the applicant.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must submit a letter of application, resume, and names, addresses and telephone numbers of three references to: Chair of Asian Studies, Moore Hall 412, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 1890 East-West Rd., Honolulu, HI 96822. Deadline: March 3.

Purpose: To provide assistance to UH graduate students making scholarly or artistic presentations at conferences and professional meetings on the mainland and elsewhere. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be classified graduate student. Criteria: Selection of applicant will be based on their application requirements.

University of Hawaii at Manoa Japan Travel Bureau Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To promote understanding between peoples and nations of the world through higher education. Focus: International affairs and relations, Crosscultural studies. Qualif.: Candidate must be a full-time classified UHM graduate student or upper class undergraduate interested in international relations or cross-cultural studies and have demonstrated high scholastic achievement. Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on their academic standing.
