Hilb, Rogal and Hobbs Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students who will be juniors at a VFIC member college. Focus: Marketing and distribution; Business; Economics; Finance; Mathematics and Mathematical sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be full-time students at one of the fifteen private colleges/universities associated with the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges; must be first-semester juniors at the time of application with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, who have declared, or intend to declare a major in one of the following disciplines: marketing, business, economics, finance, mathematics or related fields; must be U.S. citizens. Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated based on demonstrated financial need and academic achievement.
Funds Avail.: $2,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit all the required application information. Deadline: November 1.
Norfolk Southern Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students who will be juniors at a VFIC member college to defray educational expenses. Focus: Economics; Business; Finance; Accounting. Qualif.: Applicants must be full-time students at one of the fifteen private colleges/universities associated with the VFIC; first semester juniors at the time of application with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and declared major in economics, business, finance, accounting or related fields, and interested in a career in a Fortune 500 corporate setting; must be United States citizens. Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit resume, college transcript, two letters of recommendation and the completed application form. Deadline: November 1.
Phillip Morris USA Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for the students in their junior year at a VFIC college or university. Focus: Accounting; Biology; Business; Chemistry; Computer and information sciences; Economics; Engineering; Finance; Physics. Qualif.: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and current full-time sophomores attending a VFIC college or university (students from underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply); have minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA; committed to applying for an internship with Phillip Morris USA for the summer after junior year; have declared, or intend to declare, a major in one of the following disciplines: accounting, biology, business, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, finance, or physics. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed application form along with two letters of recommendation and other required application information. Deadline: November 1.
Witt Mares Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for students who are current juniors of VFIC institutions. Focus: Accounting. Qualif.: Applicants must be full-time students at one of the five pre-selected private colleges/universities associated with the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges: Lynchburg College, Shenandoah University, Marymount University, Virginia Wesleyan College, Randolph-Macon College; must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; be a junior at the time of application; be an accounting major, or have a related major or minor with coursework which includes completion of the Introductory Accounting sequence (sophomore year) and planning to complete the Intermediate Accounting sequence in their junior year; must be citizens of the United States of America. Criteria: Recipients will be selected by the staff of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges with consultation from the Witt Mares Human Resources Manager.
