Full name, Maria Elizabeth Sheldon Bamford; born September 3, 1970, in Port Hueneme, CA; raised in Duluth, MN; daughter of Joel (a dermatologist) and Marilyn (a therapist) Bamford. Education: Attended Bates College and University of Edinburgh; University of Minnesota Twin Cities, degree in creative writing; studied comedy with the Groundlings; studied acting.
