Education: University of Oregon, degree in journalism, 1978. Avocational Interests: Breast cancer causes such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; art history.

Anchor and reporter. KTVL-TV, Medford, OR, news reporter, 1978-81; KGW-TV, Portland, OR, anchor, 1981-84; KCBS-TV, Los Angeles, reporter, 1984-90; NBC News, various positions, including a stint as a Chicago correspondent, 1990-91, an anchor on Today, and various positions on NBC Nightly News; also a daytime anchor on MSNBC.
