Born March 7, 1958, in Queens, NY (some sources say Corona, NY); daughter of Robert (an aerospace engineer) and Jean (maiden name, Fink) Murphy; married Shawn Elliot (an actor), 1990; children: (stepdaughter) Justine (an actress). Education: Attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts; studied acting with Stella Adler and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
