Arnold, Sir Malcolm
Arnold, Sir Malcolm (1921– ) English composer. He started his career as principal trumpet with the London Philharmonic Orchestra but won acclaim for his accessible compositions. His output includes symphonies, concertos, overtures (Beckus the Dandipratt, 1943), ballets (Homage to the Queen, 1953), and film scores (The Bridge on the River Kwai, 1957).
