Lothair II
Lothair II (826–869) King of Lotharingia (855–869), son of Lothair I. He inherited Lotharingia (Lorraine) from his father, and the kingdom of Provence from his brother (863). He inherited Lotharingia (Lorraine) from his father, the Frankish Emperor Lothair, and in 863 he inherited the kingdom of Provence from his brother. On his death, Lothair's kingdom was divided between his uncles, Louis II (“the German”) and the Emperor Charles II (“the Bald”).
Lothair II
Lothair II (1070–1137) (Sometimes called Lothair III, ‘the Saxon’) King of the Germans and Holy Roman Emperor (1125–37). He secured the throne through war (1125–35) against the Hohenstaufen. He encouraged German e expansion, and supported Pope Innocent II against his opponents, invading Italy in 1136–37. Conrad III succeeded him.
