MCLV Abbrev. for modified constant linear velocity. A modification of CLV in which the data tracks on an optical disk are grouped in a number of bands; the same angular velocity is used while accessing all the tracks within a band, but a different velocity is used for each band. It is thus a compromise between CLV and CAV.
