Mixed marriage
Mixed marriage. In Judaism, a marriage between a Jew and a gentile. Mixed marriage is forbidden under Jewish law. Therefore, in Jewish law, a mixed marriage has no legal validity. In the case of divorce, no get is required and the wife has no right of maintenance. However, the children of a Jewish woman are regarded as Jewish even if their father is a gentile. The children of Jewish men are not accepted as Jews unless their mother is Jewish (an exception has been made to this in the Reform movement). Mixed marriage is seen as a very real threat to the Jewish people.
