Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday In the UK, annual commemoration of the dead in World War I and World War II. After World War I, the dead were remembered by a two-minute silence on Armistice Day, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the date of the World War I cease-fire (1918). In 1945, it was renamed Remembrance Sunday, and has been observed on the second Sunday of November since 1956.
