Jaʿbari family
JAʿBARI FAMILY
Prominent Palestinian family from Hebron.
The Jaʿbari family dominated political posts in the Hebron district from the 1940s to the 1970s. They rose to prominence in Palestinian politics through their support of Jordanian rule in the West Bank. In the 1970s and 1980s, the family's political support declined as their cooperation with the governments of Israel and Jordan came under increasing criticism.
