NEW ZEALANDISM. A word, phrase, idiom, or other usage peculiar to, or particularly common in, New Zealand. Such expressions are drawn from the MAORI language (Pakeha a white New Zealander) or are adaptations of GENERAL ENGLISH (grass fence a strip of long grass along an electric fence, a barrier to sheep even when the current is off).
