Pardavé, Joaquín (1900–1955)

Joaquín Pardavé (b. 30 September 1900; d. 20 July 1955), Mexican film and stage actor, director, and songwriter. Born in Penjamo, Guanajuato, of theatrical parents, from an early age Pardavé displayed a natural talent, composing popular songs and acting in his uncle's theater company. He debuted in a supporting role in the film Jalisco nunca pierde, and became a major star with his role in México de mis recuerdos, in which he created his most memorable character, Don Susanito Peñafiel y Somellera. One of the most versatile and popular Mexican actors of his time, Pardavé was equally at ease with comedy and drama. In his later career he directed many of his own films. Among his best features are El baisano Jalil, Ahí está el detalle, Arriba el norte, Yo baile con Don Porfirio, La barca de oro, and Los hijos de Don Venancio. Pardavé also composed such popular songs as "La Panchita," "Caminito de la sierra," "Ventanita morada," and "Negra consentida."
