Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc Highest peak in the Alps and the second-highest peak in Europe, lying on the border between France and Italy. It was first climbed in 1786. The 11-km (7-mi) tunnel through the base of Mont Blanc (1958–62) is the longest road tunnel in the world. In 1999, it was the scene of a serious traffic accident in which more than 40 people died. Height: 4807m (15,771ft).
