Évry (āvrē´), town (1991 pop. 45,854), capital of Essonne dept., N central France. The major industry is the manufacture of aeronautic equipment. A suburb of Paris, it is one of several developments built since 1965. The first 20th-century cathedral to be built in France opened there in 1996.
