Géza Gárdonyi (gā´zə gär´dōnyē), 1863–1922, Hungarian writer. Gárdonyi first attracted attention with a cycle of satirical novels about peasant life. His works include the play Wine (1901) and the novels The Invisible Man (1902) and The Old Man (1905). Gárdonyi's meditative idealism combined elements from Schopenhauer, Indian philosophy, and Christian mysticism.
