Ghaghara

Ghaghara (gäg´ərə) or Gogra (gō´grä), river, major tributary of the Ganges, c.640 mi (1,030 km) long, rising in the Himalayas, SW Tibet region of China, and flowing generally S through Nepal (where it is called the Karnali) and SE through Uttar Pradesh state to join the Ganges in Bihar state, E India. The river is used extensively for trade. Its lower reaches are navigable by river steamers.
