Group of Seventy Seven
Group of Seventy Seven (G77), international organization, established in 1967 to promote economic cooperation and greater influence in world affairs among developing countries. Originally consisting of 77 countries, in 1998 the organization had 133 member nations, primarily in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The G77 has been a strong voice for an increased Third-World presence on the United Nations Security Council.
