Gurgaon
Gurgaon (gûr´goun), city (2011 pop. 1,514,085), Haryana state, N India, 15 mi (24 km) SW of Delhi. Formerly a trade center for local agricultural products, Gurgaon, which is located near New Delhi's international airport, has grown enormously since the early 1990s as a residential, commercial, and financial center, and by 2011 had experienced more than a tenfold growth in its population. The city is now a major center for international outsourcing relating to customer service and financial services. Industrial products include motor vehicles and parts, apparel, rubber and plastic products, processed foods, and pharmaceuticals. Gurgaon, which is connected to New Delhi's metrorail system, also has its own metrorail system.
