Kumgang, Mount
Mount Kumgang (kōōm´gäng´), mountain, SE North Korea, rising to 5,374 ft (1,638 m). There are scenic ravines and caverns and many ancient Buddhist temples, as well as a modern resort at the foot of the mountain. Built and operated by a South Korean company and catering to South Korean tourists, the resort was closed by worsening relations in 2008 and seized by North Korea in 2011.
