Kasiṇa
Kasiṇa (Pāli, derivation uncertain). A means in Buddhism of attaining kammaṭṭhāna and jhāna.
Kasiṇa devices are ten in number and are as follows: paṭhavi (earth), āpo (water), tejo (fire), vāyo (air), nīla (blue), pīta (yellow), lohita (red), odāta (white), ākāsa (space), and viññāṇa (vijñāna, consciousness). These ten form part of the forty objects of meditation. See KAMMAṬṬHĀNA.
