LAUDER, RONALD

LAUDER, RONALD (1944– ). U.S. cosmetics entrepreneur and philanthropist; son of Estée *Lauder. Lauder established the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. A partner in the Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and chairman of Clinique Laboratories Inc., he was president of the Jewish National Fund, chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, chairman of the Jewish Heritage Council, and chairman of the Museum of Modern Art, as well as a member of the International Board of Governors of the Tel Aviv Museum, in addition to substantive involvement in many other organizations. In 1987, following his service as United States ambassador to Austria, he founded the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation which has focused on Jewish education and outreach programs, and support of Jewish schools, camps, and community centers, in Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
