LOWE, JOHN, BL.
Priest, martyr; b. ca. 1553 at London, England; d. Oct. 8, 1586, hanged, drawn, and quartered at Tyburn. He was a Protestant minister who was converted to Catholicism and then studied for the priesthood at Douai and Rome, where he was ordained in 1582. He ministered in the London area, where he was a well-known exorcist. He was condemned for his priesthood and executed with BB. Robert bickerdike, John adams, and Robert dibdale, who were all beatified by Pope John Paul II on Nov. 22, 1987 with George Haydock and companions.
