SAINT-ROBERT-DE-CORNILLON, PRIORY OF
Former benedictine monastery of the commune Saint-Egrève, Diocese and arrondissement of Grenoble, Isère, France (Latin, S. Robertus de Cornilione ). The priory was founded between 1073 and 1077 by Count Guigo II the Fat and his son Guigo III and given to the Abbey of chaise-dieu. Its dependencies included Notre-Dame des Vignes, in Côtes de Sassenage (1328) and the priory of Les Plantées, both of the Diocese and arrondissement of Grenoble. Saint-Robert was never very important. It was united to the Congregation of Saint-Maur (see maurists), and conventual life continued there until the French Revolution. Today only some ruins remain. The insane asylum of Saint-Robert has now been built on the site.
