SHŌBŌGENZŌ
Shōbōgenzō (Treasury of the Eye of the True Dharma) is a collection of essays, in several premodern redactions, by the early Japanese Zen monk DŌgen (1200–1253). The title, which denotes the Chan school (Japanese, Zen) tradition, derives from an expression indicating the awakening traditionally said to have been transmitted by the Buddha Śākyamuni to his disciple MahĀkĀŚyapa.
