African–Indian desert floral region

African–Indian desert floral region Part of the African subkingdom of R. Good's (1974, The Geography of the Flowering Plants) palaeotropical kingdom. The flora is relatively poor and specialized, the number of endemic (see endemism) genera probably just exceeding 50. Phoenix dactylifera (the date palm) belongs to this region, but, not surprisingly perhaps, there are no garden plants. See also floral province and floristic region.
