Apocynaceae A family of trees, climbers, or shrubs, in which the leaves are mostly opposite or whorled. The flowers are cymose, regular, and bisexual; they have a 5-lobed calyx and corolla tubes, 5 stamens, the ovary superior or half inferior, and 2 carpels which are free or fused. Fruits are paired, fleshy or woody, and dehiscent. There are 215 genera, with about 2100 species, whose distribution is tropical with a few temperate outliers.
