campo cerrado The campos of Brazil comprises savannah-type vegetation associated with very poor soils, although, in the absence of fire, woodland or scrub would no doubt prevail. There are several campos variants, including campo cerrado, which is a tree-covered savannah, and campo sujo, in which the aspect is more open and trees and shrubs are sparse.
