clitter A local name for the gently sloping spreads of coarse, often angular rock debris on the slopes of Dartmoor, southwest England. It was produced when blockfields developed on the Dartmoor granite during the periglacial phases of the Pleistocene and the exposure of tors, but the rock debris is now stable and largely vegetated.
