Hookeriales (subclass Bryidae) An order of pleurocarpous mosses, which are found mainly in tropical regions. There are several genera, including Hookeria. The only British species of Hookeria is H. lucens: a characteristic plant with large, translucent, bright green leaves, and flattened shoots. The leaf cells are very large and thin-walled: they are almost visible to the naked eye and easily visible under a hand lens. There is no nerve. It is found in deep shade in moist habitats, mainly in northern and western regions.
