Irenidae (leafbirds, ioras, fairy-blue-birds; class Aves, order Passeriformes) A family of bright green, green and black, white, or blue and black birds, which have fairly long, slightly curved bills, short to medium, rounded wings, and short to long tails. They are arboreal, and found in forests. They feed on fruit, berries, and insects, and nest in trees. The eight species of Chloropsis, which are bright green, are popular cage birds. There are three genera in the family, with 14 species, found in southern Asia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
