Lactarius
Lactarius (family Russulaceae) A genus of fungi in which the mushroom-shaped fruit bodies exude a milky latex when damaged (hence the common name, milk caps). The gills are decurrent. There are numerous species, some of which are edible, others poisonous. They are found on the ground under trees.
