Oxalidaceae A family of herbs (rarely shrubs or trees) that have alternate, pinnate, palmate, or trifoliate leaves with entire leaflets, and pentamerous, regular flowers with 10 stamens and a 3–5-celled superior ovary which lacks a beak (unlike those of the related Geraniaceae). The fruit is a capsule or rarely a berry. Modern classifications recognize 8 genera, with 575 species, which occur mainly in tropical areas.
