Strutt, John William
Strutt, John William ( Lord Rayleigh) (1842–1919) A mathematician and physicist of Cambridge University, Rayleigh worked on optics, noble gases, wave mechanics, etc. In the field of Earth science, he studied radioactivity in rocks, and gave his name to a type of surface earthquake wave.
