tetrad analysis
tetrad analysis The use of tetrads (4 haploid cells resulting from a single meiosis) to study the behaviour of chromosomes and genes in crossing-over during meiosis. Such analyses require organisms in which the products of meiosis are held together and so can be counted as units, as is true of the meiospores contained in the ascus sac of various fungi such as Aspergillus, Neurospora, and Saccharomyces.
