ultraviolet—visual spectrophotometry
ultraviolet—visual spectrophotometry (UV—Vis spectrophotometry) Method of spectrophotometric analysis wherein the absorbance (or transmission) of a coloured complex is measured at a specific wavelength in the ultraviolet or visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Any metal or ion which can be made to form a soluble, coloured complex with appropriate absorption maxima may be quantitatively determined by comparing the absorption of the unknown material with that of standards of appropriate concentration.
