Armand James Quick

1894-1978

American hematologist who specialized in the study of blood. He is best known for his study of the coagulation of blood and his subsequent discovery of coagulation factor V. He is also known for his work on the mechanisms of detoxification, the functioning of the liver, and for tests regarding hippuric acid, an acid that is produced and excreted by the kidneys. Quick, in 1944, contributed to Sayhun's outline of the amino acids and proteins.
