capital-intensive production This refers to techniques of production, and represents the proportion of capital (machinery, equipment, inventories) relative to labour, measured by the capital–labour ratio. The term is frequently used in the development literature to characterize the nature of the industrialization process and to examine its consequences for growth in employment vis-à-vis output.
