Arimori, Yuko (1966–)

Japanese long-distance runner. Born Dec 17, 1966, in Okayama City, Japan.

At Barcelona Olympics, won a silver medal in the marathon (1992), the 1st Japanese woman to win a marathon medal at Olympics; at Atlanta Olympics, won a bronze medal for marathon (1996); established the Hearts of Gold foundation (1998) to raise funds for victims of land mines in Cambodia; became a Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
