Duchess of Cambridge. Born on July 25, 1797, at Cassell, Germany; died on April 6, 1889, at St. James's Palace, London, England; buried at St. George's Chapel, Windsor; daughter of Frederick III, landgrave of Hesse-Cassel, and Caroline of Nassau-Usingen (1762–1823); married Adolphus Guelph, 1st duke of Cambridge, on May 7, 1818; children: George Guelph, 2nd duke of Cambridge; Augusta Guelph (1822–1916); Mary Adelaide (1833–1897).
