Carney, Kate (1870–1950)

English music-hall star. Born in 1870; died 1950; dau. of one of the Brothers Raynard (variety performer); m. George Barclay.

Made stage debut at the Albert, Canning Town (1890); known as the Cockney Queen for such songs as "Here's My Love to Ould Ireland," "Three Pots a Shilling," "I Love You in the Sunshine," "Liza Johnson," "Our Threepenny Hop," "When the Summer Comes Again," "Our Village Home in the East," "Janey de Laney," and "Maggie Maguire"; toured in the revue I Should Say So (1915).
